SBIG makes the STL-AO, which is probably what Scott is referring to since 
he said "research series."  You can see an image of it attached to an STL 
camera housing here:

Anacortes lists it for $1795 and has some information and further photos of

You can read about it off SBIG's web site as well.

Starlight Express was also working on a (non-mirror based) AO unit as 
well.  They are not showing anything on their web site right now though.
