Good question. If I remember well, James Lerch once posted
results of reflectivity measurement.

If you meant that reflectivity measurement will provide a measure
of how good is polishing then same can be achieved by measuring
diffuse reflection which is consequence of surface defects like pits,
and scratches. Incoming light is reflected  as specular reflection
and diffuse reflection. Both can be taken as a measure of the quality
of  polishing. I think that diffuse reflection angular distribution can
also
provide the size of dispersing irregularities.
 How can an ATM measure those values quantitatively with required
precision? By which methods and how accurate his measurements need to be?
