Personally, I think I would grab a couple of those RS Wall antennas (small,
$39.00 each) stick one in the attic or under the eaves of the house and one
on the observatory and connect up. This would probably give you about 20 db
overall gain inside the observatory which should blow you out at a
relatively inexpensive simply installation.
I think I would connect the attic located repeater's output to the antenna,
if that is possible. That way you keep pretty much what you already have in
the house (just adding the antenna). It won't have the 3 mile range but
should work fine for 200 yards.
I personally wouldn't hesitate to use the coax cable if it was lieing
around. A few dB loss for a hundred feet or so...not a big deal. Its
Man, you have me wanting to do the same at my rural house...
