Plop deals in hundreths of a wave error while the function of a scope deals
in tenths of a wave. Peter Ceravolo's test some years ago said basically
that the 1/8th wave does well for most of the time while a 1/16th wave is
marginally better under optimum viewing occasiions. That is a significant
difrerence in magnitude and thus, you won't see the results of the support
of a mirror until you get to the point where things are down to the 10ths of
a wavelength of light where things get to where they can be seen in the
image.
