I'd more think that keeping to point contact points will give the worst case
calculations. Using area contacts should decrease the amount of deformation
and that, while it will give a more accurate result, may not be the best as
the contact area will change from one scope to another.
Leaving the contacts as points will produce a reault that you know won't
happen in the real world would probably be nicer for the average person.
