[ATM] 20" Mirror

David,
You gotta take Bill Kelley's offer of materials and make a smaller 
mirror to gain the experience and skills needed for your 20". Unless 
your brain is of the caliber of Einstein's, your chances of making a 
decent 20" thin mirror the first time is NIL. In addition to learning 
how to make a mirror you also have to make the mounting which is at 
least as challenging as making the mirror but requires a completely 
different set of skills. There is NO WAY you are going to skip the 
essentials, you will eventually give up and the ATM community is going 
to lose a very dedicated budding astronomer. We do not want to see this 
happen and are willing to work with you but you MUST cooperate.
