[ATM] Silters a 14 x 40 Maksutov-Gregorian telescope

To all of you who responded so generously with suggestions, thank
you.

I still have the original roll of mylar that I bought from
Tuttle's widow at a NEAF event a few years back. I never used it
for any of my telescopes that range from 6" to 12.5".

My choice NOT to use it was predicated on the simple fact that
it's not a protected filter but a material that can be damaged or
punctured quite easily. Even a pin hole can cause damage to one's
eye and one thing I simply cannot afford is to loose any vision
from a burned retina.

This why I looked to stacked photographic style screw-in filters.
Even if one should fail, there is still sufficient density to
protect the eyes, provided an infra red filter is somewhere in
the mix. It's just occurred to me that I already own bigger
filters for use in film photography (With my change to digital, I
forgot I had them) . A step down adapter, if available, might
allow me to stack test them.

There is also the classic full aperture cover with an offset
small aperture opening. Will that work with a Maksutov-Gregorian?
I haven't a clue but how much can it cost to try?

Thanks for your support.
