By scratches you mean what looks like a smooth groove in the glass?
First off, find out if the lens has a coating on it.  If so, you first have
to remove the coating and I'd suspect that you will also remove the
scratches at the same time.
If the scratches are lines of cavities, you can get some pitch and CeO and
polish the lens out, probably without too much trouble.
