If you really feel the need to get the plaster off the surface, use a stick
of wood and rub the surface of the glass.  You will also want to do the same
to the surface of the tool to get the excess off of the surface of the
tiles.
I do both as necessary when I do the casting while the plaster is still
curing.  I'm usually grinding about 45 minutes after I first pour water into
the dental stone that I use.  The grit tends to not get as contaminated with
plaster when the grit can easily break down the plaster to dust.
