Not only can you save some effort by making a Dental Stone Tool, if you
scrounge around some of your local stores, you can probably get the tiles
relatively cheap, and then just cast them in the tool (search the archives
for how-to - its really easy).  By the time you're finished, you'll be
glad you took the time and effort.

Grind more, worry less.  Measure twice, cut once.
