Running a couple of 12 point cells for a  20" x 1.625"  f/5 mirror produced
slightly better numbers with an 8 x 4 combination than with a 9 x 3.  8 x 4
is essentially your 4 point cell with triangles at the corners.

Bear in mind this is for discrete points without regard to part
configuration and an analysis of relative force among the support rings.
