I wrote that part wrong.  The hole in the primary is 4.5", about half the tertiary's diameter.  Baffling is done behind the primary, like this:

I also plan on using the tube itself as a baffle - using a big pipe to put the cassegrainian portion, and a tapered section for the Newtonian half.  I worked out the diagonal to eyepiece distance and figure it will be an interesting piece to look at, to say the least.  Picture a rocket bottom end with an elongated nozzle, and you have the scope's appearance.
