Like you I enjoy using my unit-power binoculars, but
they seem to suffer from diminishing quality.  A star
test shows considerable astigmatism on the right side,
and there is that annoying dewing problem on chilly
nights.  I've read that porro prisms are preferable to
roof prisms, but my pair seems to have neither.

I guess you get what you pay for.
