I saw the pit chasing very early on with the one that is being ground at my
class.  I've had a fair bit of experience with how fast grinding goes and
thus didn't let the pits stop the process through the grits.  Even with the
fine grits, there still was some problem with scratches and single pits that
wander about on the surface.  The biggest feeling that I got was that the
grinding could have gone a lot faster with fewer steps of grit with no loss
of accuracy.
