RE: ATM:Project plans after unpacking
Yes , near in Granada 60 Miles
-"Sierra Nevada" (3479m/11414 ft9 with a couple of óptical radio
Observatories .
-"Calar Alto".Sierra De Los Filabres (2650m/8694ft) Almería 150
Miles:Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie three telescopes with apertures of
1.23m, 2.2m and 3.5m.
And nearest from my home: "Pico del Torrecilla" (1919m/6295 ft) with my 0.25
m Newton when I arrive my car ;-).
The highest mountains on Spain are in Canary Islands (which are REALLY in
Africa)with some of the best telescopes in the world I recommend you
http://www.gtc.iac.es/home.html , with the plans of our segmented 10.4 meter
telescope to be place in "El Roque de los Muchachos" with the participation
of México :-)
But in Sahara there is not Ligth Polution and the Sky is not grey or black
,is Dark-Dark Blue and the stars are like gems.
Some of my ancestors lived in "Los Picos de Europa" in Asturias they never
expeled anybody because they never leaved their mountains...
Some of my arabians and magrebis ancestors could escape to be expelled, they
escape to Sierra Nevada in Granada in 1492 (what a funny date)...
Some of my ancestors have to hide and change their names an their religion
for not to be expelled, they were Jews... (Luna)
Some of my ancestors were expelled from India ,they were Gipsies...
But another Grand-GrandFather Vicente Yañez commanded the Niña in the
first expedition of C. Colón (Columbus).I Think perhaps he was one of the
persons about you are talking or perhaps he was your Grand-GrandFather too.
I don´t consider somebody racially inferior. And if in Spanin somebody does,
only have to look at himself to feel stupid.
My English is the worst you can read at any place in the word ;-).My Spanish
is not so bad.
Sorry for the Off-Topic disgression.I will not do it Again.
Richard, I will like to have time to make my own mirror but I live on travel
, I can´t travel with a barrel.
When I retired or win the Lotery Prize I will . I swear.
Saludos.

You don't need to go to Africa; you have some very excellent high mountains,
the highest in Europe, much closer to home. Also, I don't know if it is
possible in Spain, but I recommend that you get a fishing license and a
fishing pole for some good trout (trucha) when you go there.
Since I live very close to Mexico (California is rapidly becoming Mexican),
and my ancestors were the guys you expelled in 1492, and I have uncles and
cousins in Mexico, I know that Spain is not part of Mexico. I also know
that many Spaniards look down on the Mexican people as being racially
inferior. The worst Spanish language you will ever here in your life is
here in the streets of Los Angeles, but in Mexico City the language is much
better. (The worst English language is in certain parts of New York.)
Sometimes I like to get in my car and make a long road trip. But I cannot
do what you can do: I cannot drive my car to Afghanistan! Some day there
will be a Bering sea tunnel that will connect our two worlds.
It is too bad you are buying your mirror. It is more fun to make it
yourself.
