Re: ATM Advice on Film Developing Tanks

Petterson used to make plastic reels which were centre loading. The plastic
stains over the years but never has any effect on the processing. Some of
the ultra high contrast developers stain it faster but no ill effects.

In my opinion, these are the only ones to use because if the film jams for
any reason you are still in control of the situation and no damage results
to the film.

If a few spots of water are present (of course it should not be there - we
all know that) because of haste, it is still possible to load the film OK.

They take a little getting used to but once mastered are in my opinion far
superior. Just do some practice with old film in daylight and learn how to
hold and cup the film by the edges. There is a knack but like riding a
bike - once learned it is not forgotten.

Film Removal is a dream.

Do they still make these or am I out of date ????
