Webster's defines a lumen as:
"a unit of measure for the flow of light, equal to the amount of flow
through a unit solid angle from a uniform point source of one
candela."
hmm . . . I think this is saying that 1 lumen = 1 "candle" and is a
measure of intensity and is independent of frequency (energy).
er, but I am guessing . . . I don't remember my university physics that
well!
