James,

>what is the mcd unit ?

mcd ( milli candela) milli = 1/1000, candela (Latin).= candle.
One candela is international (SI) unit for the intensity of light. This
light intensity is output from a 1/600000 square meter area, (normal to
it)
of the black body with temperature of
2042.5 degree C ( solidification temperature of pure platinum
at the pressure of 101325 Pascal).

Lumen is light flux i. e. number of candelas in the solid angle
