FWIW
In my shop, we deal with grit the following way when we brush feed a
block grinding, and I follow the same procedure when grinding a
telescope mirror.
Use a small Tupperware/Rubbermaid container (1 qt or maybe a little
smaller), fill about 1/3rd full of grit, add water till it is thoroughly
mixed, let the grit settle, and have the water level approx. 1/2-1"
above the grit level. Using a 1" chip brush, brush against the solids on
the top of the grit, and brush onto the tool. The moisture content is
just about right for the length of time of one wet, when its dry, you've
lost your cutting edge anyway, and time to add more grit.
Use a different brush for each grit, cost @ .79 each anyway
Hope this complicated description of a simple process makes sense. 8+)
