Warm the mess up (I do believe that the glass doesn't expand as much as
brass) and when you do so, support the glass so that the brass falls off of
it.  If it doesn't, tap lightly with a deadfall hammer and the brass should
soon fall off.
Then again, since you want the brass porthole, why not just hit the glass
with a nice hammer and it will quickly fall out?  8-),)
