The question that I would have to ask is whether the surface is actually
polished out yet.  Grab a eyeloupe (a cheap 12-25mm EP will make a nice
eyeloupe of 10-5 power) and check the surface to see if you see pits in the
surface.  You won't be able to move holes while anything on the surface can
be moved.  Another thing to do is grab a Magic Marker and see if when you
put it on and then wipe it off, you have black marks - again a mark of not
being polished out yet.
