Take the entire chunk out and see what it does on a 2x4 stick scope.  My
bets are that the edge is deformed from the proper shape and when you cut
out a 5" circle from that, you will again get a deformed edge.  Plan on
either masking for about 1/2" or refinishing which may be hard if the edge
goes down.
