I agree. That image that's stuck in my mind is driving a bit of this.

I own a sign company Ina and I have many different types of adhesive
backed sheet material. Including some foil types. Although most of them are
very thin. In the .006 to .022 range. Not rugged enough in my mind. They do
however offer a very realistic, metal looking surface. I even have some REAL
gold leaf vinyl material. That would certainly offer a piece to talk about. But
back to my idea. I am going after a "look". But even more so a genuine, realistic
metal construction and feel. With rivets, solder and all. And besides, if I managed
to nick any of these adhesive types, I'd have to replace ALL of the material to
keep it from looking like a sticker. With actual metal, these ncks and dings would
give it character and not reveal a surface underneath. BUT I do want to tell you
that I do have a piece of red vinyl already wrapped around my existing tube to keep
my bracket from digging up the cardboard surface. It offers a very clean appearance
to the scope. Plus its high gloss.

I will certainly check out their web site Ron. I'm always on the lookout for
adhesive materials. THANKS. I'm not familiar with this "real snazzy
diffraction foil" you mentioned. Would you tell me a bit about it please.

I look forward to hearing a bit more.
