ATM Handling big glass
How do you handle a really big mirror without risking a slip or a slipped disk ?
I made a 20" (55 pounds of glass) without any special equipment, but lifting it
from the figuring to the test stand always seemed risky. To me, the ergonomics
of lifting heavy, slippery objects far from your center of gravity is the
biggest obstacle to making a large mirror.
There must be some tricks to safely handling a really big glass blank (30" and
up).
Do folks use a sling, engine jack, tilt-table, suction cups, or what ?
If anybody has a web reference to big-glass handling techniques, I'd sure
appreciate it.
