ATM Program to convert atm digest messages to HTML
I have written a program that converts atm digest messages to HTML. The
HTML files can be viewed in a web browser such as Netscape Navigator or
Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The advantages of conversion are:
1. The table of contents is converted to a table of links. You can
click one to go directly to any message in the digest.
2. Navigation links are added after each message. These let you return
to the table of contents or jump to previous or subsequent messages.
The links include Previous in Thread and Next in Thread so you can read
the messages in a thread without having to wade through others.
3. Most e-mail and web addresses are converted into links for easy use.
4. My program makes an index file in HTML. You can make a shortcut to
this file, and not have to worry about finding the newly converted
digest files. They will appear in this file as links. Just remember to
use Reload or Refresh in your browser to get the current version of the
index file.
Disadvantages are:
1. You have to save each digest message from your e-mail program as a
text file. It's not hard but is one more step.
2. You have to run the conversion program. Also not hard, but one more
step.
3. Converted files take up space on your hard drive. They are 25 - 45%
larger than unconverted files. My program includes an option to
automatically delete old files. This keeps them from building up and
gives you one less thing to think about.
4. I don't have versions for Mac or Unix/Linux.
You can find the program and a help file in .zip compressed format at

Thanks to Arjan te Marvelde who inspired me to write this program,
tested two early versions and made helpful suggestions.
