Hi Mick,
Here in India I've used coal tar (asphalt) which is used for asphalting
roads. Its dirt cheap (I got about 2-3 lbs for the equivalent of US$ 0.50)
and seemed to work well. It did seem a bit hard, but when worked for a while
gave me real good feel. In fact if you walk upto a group of workers laying a
road they will easily give you more than you need - they get it in huge
drums here. About honeycomb foundation, I've never used any but Tex says it
will lead to a generally worse surface if used for final polishing, though
Ingalls says it polishes faster and can be used to initially polish out the
mirror (correct me if I'm wrong, ladies and gentlemen)
clear skies,
Balaya
