Hey,

I happen to be working on a 12.5" f/6 newtonian right now.  This is by
far the longest scope I've tried yet, and I gave alot of thought to the
Strut-or-solid tube question.  

A 6' focal length is a long tube to fit in a car or carry around.

After looking at a few 12" f/6 'scopes, it became obvious that I could
never manage transporting a solid tube in my vehicle.  Any OTA under 4'
or so could fit in my car easily, anything longer than that needs to be
modular.

Just my 2 cents.
