    Perhaps not a fair comparrison.... the 24" has double the mirror area of
a pair of 12" binox...
The 24" would be more closely equivelant to a pair of 17" binoculars...
Comparrisons of resolution would have little meaning up against the effects
atmospheric seeing on most nights though.
    As for splitting Pluto Charon.... I'd guess that it might be possible in
a good 20" with an observer experienced in the art of averted
imagination....Maybe a 24" to be safe.
