Re: ATM Carbon fibre + aluminum tube.

Hmmm

I like aluminium, but here in South Africa it is hard to come by and very
expensive. I have used sonotube on one scope and aluminium trusses on my
other 2. I have no idea what the thermal coefficent of expansion is for
sonotube compared to aluminium.

You could use the sonotube as a form, wrapping carbon cloth on the outside ,
waiting for it to set and then peeling the sonotube away, leaving a rough
inside that once painted would be great for reducing reflections.

Sonotube has some advantages....cheap, good damping and some
disadvantages....doe not like water, heavy

So a difficult call, I have never used an aluminium tube scope but I am sure
there should be no problems other than cost...
