Re: ATM Carbon fibre + aluminum tube.
Hi
Well in my 16 " f 5.7 truss tube scope I use 1.2mm wall thickness and they
are flexible but the truss arrangement makes up for that and I have no
problems at all!
If you could get a very thin aluminium tube with say .75mm wall thickness a
double layer of very light carbon cloth should SIGNIFICANTLY increase both
the strength and rigidity, but the mess would not make it worthwhile.
I reckon the only place that carbon overlay would really be useful would be
on a large diameter thin wall tube for a solid tube scope. But even then to
do it properly is another story all together!
But cool carbon scope trusses sure would look great!!
