Hi Scott,
I was told by a reliable source that some of the Daisy finders have a thin
stainless steel coating on them. Muriatic acid simply will not do. Nitric
acid, I'm told will take the coating off but is rather nasty stuff to be
playing with. I have modified several of these finders and up until about
two years ago, muriatic acid worked fine. All finders I've bought in the
last two years do not respond to muriatic acid. Like others have suggested I
would try CeO or toothpaste. Since I now have access to Nitric acid I will
try that sometime soon but I would NOT suggest that others try it.
