    "Normality" is subjective term by it's very nature.
You just have to displace yourself in time or geographically a short way for
"The Norm" to change significantly.  I would suggest that to selectively
filter out "The Abnormal" is to deny yourself a rich tepestry of new ideas
by original thinkers.   Most of the great discoverers throughout history
were regarded as heritic to the established "Norm" of the time.....it's a
consequence of cultural inertia I suppose......
    An "abnormal" telescope does not have to be any more complex / expensive
/ difficult ...etc) than the accepted current practice of the
day....historically, John Dobson proved that point emphatically I think..?
