I need some advice on maintaining a pair of night vision binoculars that I
bought on a recent trip to Russia. 

These are the Filin 1 7x70 generation 1 image intensifier binocs.  They are
the same binoculars that are sold around the US in Price Club, etc. 
(Except at about 40% of the US price ... I bought them at Jupiter Optical
in the New Arbat, Moscow)

I am presuming that someone on this list has had some experience
disassembling them (at least one ATM has got to have been unable to resist
the temptation to disassemble these .. (ahem) in clear violation of the
warranty.

My problem is that the distance between eyepieces cannot be adjusted
because (apparently) the pivot in the center of the two tubes has frozen
up.  I've tried Break Free and WD40, unscrewing everything I could put a
screwdriver into, and so forth, but can't figure out how to loosen the
pivot up

Does anyone have any suggestions how I might free up the pivot on these
binoculars??
