I have to concure that there is no upper limit. Yes, by eye, the shadows get
rather difficult to read above f/10. Pictures of the shadows however, are still
useable, especially if they are digital and can be contrast enhanced. This
also extends the detetability limits imposed by diffraction. You need not have
an expesive digital camera to take advantage. Even a well studied photograph
printed with a contrast enhancement filter can be used. I did this in high
school in my photography class. If you arn't into photography, ask around.
