My physics knowledge is truncated at a Junior-level course in classical
mechanics, but isn't UV scattered even more than blue light (which is
scattered plenty - red sunsets and blue skies)?  I doubt that the friend
is seeing any Venus surface, just enjoying the additional contrast between
higher and lower cloud tops.
