ATM Rough grinding done on my 8" :)

HI all... thanx for your replies on my last post.

I just finished grinding with grit no.120.  ( I think) How do
you tell when you are finished with each grit ??? I tried to mark
lines whih pensil on the mirror but I think they just washed off
in a few strokes  (less than 15 strokes) !!

I am now letting my elgin grinding machine do the job.  I reduced 
rpm to about 10-11 rpm and about 55 strokes per min.

I am about 8-10 inches short of my desired ROC, I would need a longer
stroke than 1/3 diameter, whouldn't I ???

I am tomorrow going to proceed with no.220 grit.  If you don't
disagree that I am finished with no.120.  The total grinding time
on no.120 grit (excluding pauses) is about 40min.
