ATM Tool Update

Wanting to get back to grinding as soon as possible I chose to cut out a
single disk from the plate glass, less edges to bevel that way. After try to
use a straight-edge to create a soret of n-gon and screwing up up first
attempt, I simply traced the plaster tool with a marker and scored the glass
freehand, much easier. I also flattened out the plaster surface as much as
possible, it was just slightly concave to begin with. The glass was glued on
with 3M's Super 77 contact cement, wonderful stuff, I don't think it will ever
come off again.
I put in about 2 hours of grinding with #80, glass on glass has a nicer
'feel' to it. Sounds better too :) I was worried about the mirror flattening
out but it appears to be staying at the same center depth. The tool is almost
ground to the center, there is still about a 1.5" flat spot left. I have been
going to a center over center stroke every 3-4 wets to try to keep it somewhat
spherical. So far so good.
Thanks to everyone who has responded. I will keep you posted on how this
turns out. Got to go now I'm missing Animanics!
