Re: ATM How do I make a pitch lap

Thank you for all the helpful and clear instructions about the pitch lap. One
person actually said that Texereau said to cover all the strips of wood with
paper. Well, in the 1984 William Bell 2nd English Edition he doesn't. Perhaps
something gets lost in the translation somewhere.
Anyway, I poured the lap today, with a foil dam around the outside after wiping
it with turps, and I am now melting channels out with a soldering iron. The
channels are not as straight as Texereau's picture but they should allow the
tops of the squares to deform easily enough to maintain contact with the mirror,
which, presumably is the point, and, after all, randomness is the key to
avoiding zonality (isn't it:).
I had to stop about half way through the channels as dinner was ready (yes the
kitchen is functional again) and, after yesterday, I thought that I should not
be the cause of the food getting cold.
