(ATM) Tip-tilt imaging

I have seen recently that some telescopes on the Hawai mountains use "tip-tilt" imaging on the scopes. I conclude from this that it is not the same as adaptive optics. Having a classical cassegrain myself I wonder if this technology is reproducable by people like myself. Does anyone know anything about this type of guiding-correcting method? Is it more complicated than one might assume? Are there any papers on this topic that I might read about?

Is there not an image stabilizing gaget sold from the pages of Sky and Tel? Is the method of correction similar for the two, excepting that the former actually moves the hyperbolic secondary?
