BO>I have a right-angle 8x50 finder that I use on my Dob. I found mounting
BO>to be exhorbitantly-priced...in many cases they cost more than the find
BO>itself! So I mortised some rings I cut out of plywood into the tube box
BO>drilled and threaded screws into the perimeter of them. Finally, I put
BO>silicone caulk on the ends.
BO>This worked fine for awhile, but always had a little too much "play" an
BO>course the plywood has now started to split at the screws. I'm looking
BO>more durable option. Anyone have an idea on where I can get iron/alumin
BO>rings
BO>that will serve?

Bruce, I also was looking for a more cost effective way of mounting my
homemade 7x35 finder on my sons refractor, finally found some scrap 3/8
plexiglass. I used a hole saw to cit the insde dia. and a sabre saw for the
rest, just go slow with the drilling and cutting and threading.
