How good does the front window holding the secondary have to be. I am
currently building my first scope and have considered that. Can you polish
glass against glass and use the best one? I think the guy who built his folded
reflector featured in S&T advocated that for his mirrors.
I considered trying to draw a vacumm since I have a pump, but since I have
never acutually seen a focuser, I am not sure it can be done, short of putting
a piece of glass under the focuser. I am assuming that would mean 2 pieces of
perfectly flat glass positioned exactly right.
Being a first scope I will probably go with a spider so that I can actually
get around to using the scope sometime soon.
