I'm using a 1" diagonal on my long focal length 8". I purchased a stalk holder from Orion. Seems to work just great. I will admit that there are some "interesting" bends in the stalk to get it centered under the focuser and at the proper angle >G<. It took me about an hour and a half to get the bends in it to where they met my satisfaction. I used a bench vice and "trial and error" to get it formed correctly.
