Mel: It has been posts of yours that have encouraged me to try this mirror. I have considered glueing two blanks together, but at this point I think I am going to try it as is -- I'll let you know. Also, I downloaded your ALTAZ stuff the other night -- wow. I have DobDrivers on my 8" and 13.1" Coulters, and use a program I wrote under Visual Basic to run them. I full step the motors, and used VB because of the easy programmable timers. For visual observing, I usually use a mode where the scope repositions every fifteen seconds -- the scope vibrates for a second or so, and then is still. My system can slew well enough to be useful, and tracks fine for visual use, but CCD use has proven difficult. So, I am looking into converting my DobDrivers to use your system. I'm not sure yet if the power module I have now will support micro-stepping. I know I can half-step it. If memory serves, the motors I have are 360 step models, and I don't recall what the gear-boxes are, but the final step size is just about 2 arcsec per full step -- just about perfect. I may need to build your motor drive circuit for them, but it looks well worth it. If you know of anyone who has done this conversion, I would be interested in contacting them. Thanks again for the cool stuff, and the encouragement.
Take care, Peter Augello
