Hi, Larry
I won't be going this year. I'm getting married at the time Kobau happens, and my wife-to-be won't let me go, for some strange reason :-( Observing conditions are very good, but with the growth of Osoyoos and Oliver, they're slowly getting worse every year. The road up to the top is slowly getting worse every year as well. It is an unmaintained forestry access road and full of potholes and cattleguards. GO SLOW UP THE MOUNTAIN !! Last year I lost a hubcap and the year before I almost ripped my muffler off. It is said that the mountain claims a mechanical victim every year :-) One person you can look for up there is John McKee from the Comox Valley Astronomy club. He's got a blue minivan and parks fairly close to the weather shack on the lower level. John Dobson should also be there as well as the usual contingents from Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. You might want to check with the Calgary chapter of the RASC to see who's going. Hopefully, we here in the Kootenays will have a deep sky star party going within the next year or two. Well, have fun up there. I of course will be busy, what with the wedding and Kobau withdrawal symptoms wracking my body and withering me down to nothing :-)
