Hi Tom,
Well it's difficult to be certain, but I would say that if you are
fairly sure that you spent enough time with the last grade of abrasive
(5-10 Micron), do *NOT* go back to fine grinding. The edge is the part
of a mirror that breaks your heart and filters out the less serious
glass pushers. I suggest you hot press the lap using some fine mesh to
micro-facet the surface, and continue with the mirror on top, with not
too long strokes. A 10 inch hunk of glasss is a *tall* order if this
is your 1st mirror, but stick with it. As I tell my mirror class
students, "the only thing you can't fix, is if you drop it....."
How long have you been polishing up to now?
Bob L.
Technology is OUT of control......
