I have a friend who is a regular optician (Glasses for faces). With this in mind I have been thinking about making an 8 inch F2.8 newtonian for astro photos. I would then construct a field flattening, coma correcting lense to be placed just in front of the camera. I have already made a 10 inch f4 parabaloid that turned out great, so I figure that an 8 inch f2.8 should probably be about the same difficulty in correcting. I would appreciate any comments that could come this way about this. Perhaps optical quality issues. Would, for instance, it be ASSUMED that the mirror would not need to be great (ie 1/4 to 1/6 wave front), for a 500 mm focal length camera lense?
