Hmmm -- do you think the mount is up to it?

I would personally put more faith in a hand-driven Scotch mount (I often do!) -- a decent one on a stable base can track for 10 minutes with no discernable error.

They are dead easy to make -- a simple afternoon's work, even for a workshop incompetent like me.
