Mirror-o-matic is a truly interesting design. I think I might build one of
those over the winter. Personally, I'd rather borrow/rent/purchase used so I
can focus on mirror making rather than another construction project I'll never
get done because I can only find 90% of the parts. :-)
but in my research, I found we had an interesting mirror making design from one
of our own.

I've seen similar designs where simple positioning and friction changes work out
just right to make a sphere. Two questions: Bob has the spindle running a 60
rpm (is that slow enough?) And why does he say it's only good up to 6 inches?
Is this a limitation of the torque available from the spindle motor? If you
went slower with more torque, could you handle a larger mirror?
Personally, I'm only interested in 10-12 inch mirrors at max but that's one hell
of a lot of torque required especially when polishing.
