You're not looking at 99 percent efficiencies with transformer
designs but you can get a goodly amount of power through them.
Remember that switching power supplies are hard put go get into
the 60 percent region even without having to send the power
through the air.
Probably the best is a setr of recharga le batteries large enough
to handle a day or two of service as this will be light and the
charging can be done at home for normal service.  A poetable
charger hooked up to the ccar will suffice for extended times.
