Re: [ATM] A powered alt-az ground-board
The most reliable method of providing power through something
like that is throuigh a transformer. Put a karge wubdubg ib each
side of the joing and then power one side with some frequency and
pick up and convert that power on the other side to DC. A
frequency of 50KHz or so will do a good job. VP Cheney's heart
monitor works that way. You do have to remember that you are
putting out RF so be careful of the frequency or the FCC mayu go
looking for you. 60KHz is a frequency that is used for time
broadcasting for example. It is also better to use something
approximating a sine wavve rather than a square wqave.
For easier work, having the contacts on a shaft and two litttle
rings around that shaft will also do well ads will having one
contact on the bottom of the shaft and another on the bearing in
the center area of the board enar the shaft. Provide multiplle
contacts to the ring so that if one gets dirty or bets
destroyedd, you won't have to give up for the night as well as
insure that the contact is more secure
